It is identified as anisotropic under a polariscope, with a refractive index ranging from 1.761 to 1.770. The stone exhibits pleochroism showing pink to pinkish-orange tones, along with weak red fluorescence under short-wave UV and red fluorescence under long-wave UV. Microscopic examination reveals the presence of crystals and silk.
